Goldfish Memory (2004)

It’s a light-hearted look at the dangers and delights of dating in contemporary Dublin. When Clara sees her boyfriend Tom kissing Isolde, it sets off a chain reaction of romances and heartbreaks until the entire cycle has turned full circle, each character trying to solve the pressing question of what is the perfect relationship.
It has everything. Bad news, it has everything as I waiting for the kitchen sink to find happiness too. I know that was the point of the movie title but while it had it moments and there were many which makes it a good rental. However, I got bored and simply tired trying to keep up with who was with who and if I wanted that, I would still be watching soap opera. Maybe if it was focused on just two or three relationships I probably could handle it but this was also a romance film which didn’t help my enjoyment. In other movies I talked about wanting to see what happens to the couples involved and how they end up, to find resolution; however in this movie where everybody hooked up to a happy ending (the bastard professor doing the whole “The Graduate” scene the baby, which I’ll consider as the kitchen sink included, because lesbians always want babies *sarcasm here*) was making me barf. I guess I could never be happy. I’ll keep looking…
Two things I really liked: One., the teacher before finding the “right girl” was a mess and received much karma for all the crap he did on his female college students. Two, the groom getting released from his wedding by the bride, the joy on his face was great and him hitting the pole was hilarious. Like I said if you like romance films with multiple people involve, then try this as a rental.
Makes me wonder about the ending, with the movie’s theory and if these people will stay together… just a thought.
